Keto Coffee Shake Ingredients
This easy keto coffee smoothie is made with a handful of ingredients:
- Wholesome Yum Sugar-Free Hazelnut Coffee Syrup – This syrup blends in seamlessly and gives the smoothie more depth of flavor from the hazelnut. It’s sweet and nutty, yum! If you don’t like hazelnut, it also comes in a vanilla version.
- Strong brewed coffee – You could also use espresso here and add some water.
- Heavy cream – Use coconut cream for a dairy-free and vegan smoothie.
- Peanut butter – You could also use any nut butter, though the carbs might change a bit.
- Cocoa powder – This gives rich chocolate flavor, plus antioxidants!
How To Make A Keto Coffee Smoothie
This smoothie couldn’t be easier to make, though it does take a bit of planning ahead!
- Make coffee ice cubes. Freeze brewed coffee into an ice cube tray and freeze overnight, or until solid.
- Combine. In a blender, combine the coffee ice cubes, heavy cream, Wholesome Yum Sugar-Free Hazelnut Coffee Syrup, peanut butter, cocoa powder.
- Blend. Blend until smooth.
TIP: If your smoothie is too thick, add cold water until it reaches the desired consistency.
- Enjoy! Pour into glasses and top with sugar-free whipped cream if desired.
Keto Iced Coffee Smoothie FAQs
Are coffee smoothies keto?
Most coffee smoothies are not keto, as they are made with fruit and often times sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, or sugar, which takes them OFF the keto list.
This coffee keto smoothie is made without fruit and sweetened with sugar-free coffee syrup for all the sweet flavor without any of the sugar or carbs.
Can I use a different sweetener?
I recommend using the sugar-free hazelnut coffee syrup for the best flavor and sweetness, but you can use a different sweetener if you need to.
You’ll want to make sure to use something that will dissolve into the smoothie – liquid sweeteners like Wholesome Yum Keto Simple Syrup work best, but powdered sweeteners like Besti Powdered Monk Fruit Allulose Blend would also work.
Can I make this dairy-free?
Yes, you can use coconut cream in place of the heavy cream for a dairy-free option.
Storage Instructions
Store any leftover smoothie in the refrigerator for 1-2 days. You may need to blend it if it separates, or add more coffee ice cubes if you want it to be as icy as the fresh version.
Can you freeze low carb coffee smoothies?
You can also freeze leftover low carb coffee smoothie recipes like this one. Store in a glass jar or smoothie cup and freeze for 1-2 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight and let it sit out until it’s thawed enough to shake and drink.
